DEATH is the (natural) end of LIFE...

― independent, mutuals-only, selective MATRON OF RAVENS from critical role as written by monarch. a story in : the endless hubris of mages & a city in the clouds; a mother's preemptive grief at never seeing her child again; the idea that anything is possible so long as one believes; hope that one can accomplish their goals & the knowledge of what happens should she fail; looking to the future & finding peace.

  1. hi there! i see you've stumbled upon a silly little corner of this hellsite! i'm monarch (though you might also see me be referred to as ray or alexis/lex sometimes)! to get started, currently, i use they/she/he pronouns, in that order of preference and also use the neopronouns dei/deity and mor/mors. honestly, any pronouns are fine so long as you're nice about it. anyways! welcome to ravensmantle, my semi-sective, private, mutuals-only portrayal of the matron of ravens from critical role lore! she will have a few main verses, of which are currently a work in process.

  2. as a general rule, i try not to make roleplaying my entire life. a good portion of it, maybe, but hopefully not the entire thing. as such, i don't have a set amount of time that it will take me to respond to things; i'll try to get things replied to as fast as i can and usually in the order they were replied to, but sometimes i'll be really feeling a certain thread over a different one and will reply to whichever i'm more excited for first. sorry for any waiting you'll have to do if you're interested in roleplay with me; that's just the sacrefice someone's gotta make to put up with my audhd ass.

  3. i'm a legal adult, so i would prefer to not roleplay with anyone younger than eighteen. this rule is slightly lenient if i already knew you when i was eighteen or younger, but otherwise: please no minors interacting with me. on that note, i will not be roleplaying any nsfw scenes with anyone (on tumblr), and only with those i am close to (on discord). thought, to be fair, i don't see many people wanting to write sexual nsfw with the literal goddess of death but, hey, you do you.

  4. general warning to not be a dick. i don't want any racism, religious debates, political drama, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc. stuff on my dash. another warning that i am autistic, and because of that, it makes it really hard for me to understand tones through text so you'll often see me use tone tags. i also sometimes don't understand when i'm doing something wrong.

  5. some things i'd rather avoid in any of our roleplays, if at all possible, include mentions of animal/pet death (specifically mentions of dog death), pictures of big spiders, and descriptive mentions of eye gore. as well as all the normal taboo topics (rape, abuse, incest, huge age gaps, kidnapping, etc.). forgetting to tag things once or twice is acceptable, but if it gets to a point where i consistently have to ask for something to be tagged, i will simply just block people.

  6. formal disclaimer: pretty much nothing in this carrd , besides most of the text, was made by me. the carrd template credit can be found in the little credit symbol on the bottom, and most of the images i used came from pinterest and i just put a black and white filter over the top of it. please don't come at me for not crediting anybody, i've put in all the credit i know how to find.

VERSE ONE / A MOTHER'S WARM HAND the age of arcanum; when cities dominated the skies, and the hubris of mages was at an all time high, this was the age in which the matron preformed the rite of ascension, overthrowing the previous god of death - her former friend, whose name was stricken from the record of time the same as her own - but this verse specifically deals with the before. before she became the goddess of fate, the matron was nothing more than a mortal woman. a very beautiful mortal woman, as any description of her true form would tell you, but a mortal woman nonetheless. raised in the city of toramunda - before it was split into two by the man she would one day call her father-in-law, imyr por'co. imyr was a wizard of great hubris, as all wizards are wont to be in any day and age, but in that one more than most. she married the child of imyr, had a daughter of her own, patia, and did all the research necessary to attempt - and to succeed - at her very own ritual. designed by the matron herself, the rite of ascension has only ever been preformed successfully one time. it killed her lover in the process, and in the end, the matron got what she wanted, what all wizards wanted - a place in the stars. (this verse requires heavy plotting, being so dependent on headcanon.)
VERSE TWO / A SUNKEN TOMB'S SECRETS the age of divergence; a steady presence, always in the background, always watching and waiting but seemingly never doing much of anything unless you truly know where to look. the matron knows the world, knows that it crashed and burned and was born anew from the ashes of the calamity all those centuries ago, knows that it is ever changing and ever growing, and that - eventually - it will all belong to her in the end. she watches, and she waits, and she knows. (this verse requires little to no plotting, mostly following canon.)
VERSE THREE / A SHARED BIT OF HISTORY the age of change; a modern and/or reincarnated version of the matron who exists in the modern day and age. mortal once more, the raven queen is nothing more than a grief counselor. she consoles the living about the dead, and feels sorrow for their passings. (this verse requires moderate plotting, being so dependent on headcanon.)
